2. Every June, the town of Zug celebrates cherry season with a tradition that’s over 400 years old

the Zuger Chriesisturm! It took place today, 23rd June and photographer Carmen Sirboiu, we was there to capture some impressions.

When the church bells ring, it signals the start of the Chriesimärt (cherry market) – and the lively ladder and basket races begin! 👟

Men and children race through the historic old town with 8-metre ladders, while women take part in cherry basket runs – all re-enacting the race to pick the first cherries of the season. It’s a fun Swiss tradition of the beloved Chriesi 🍒 and you will find cherries in everything from sausages to pies! And if you watch till the end you will see a familiar Zurich figure lurking in the lake - the Böögg!
